Boston University Athletes to Provide Local Children with Holiday Gift of Reading
(Boston, Mass.) - More than 75 Boston University athletes will present Boston-area second graders with the holiday gift of reading this month. This is the fourth year the athletes and the University mascot, Rhett the Boston Terrier, have visited local schools to read to children. Some 500 schoolchildren will receive a book at the end of the reading.
The Boston University Business Affairs Office and Barnes and Noble at Boston University are providing the books as gifts for the children. Additionally, teachers will receive a copy of “Make Way for Ducklings” by Robert McCloskey and a Rhett the Terrier stuffed toy for their classroom. Rhett – the mascot – will pose for pictures and sign autographs for the children.
Founded in 1839, Boston University, with an enrollment of more than 29,000 students in its 17 schools and colleges, is a NCAA Division I school, with 23 varsity sports, many of which are nationally ranked.
