Boston University Launches New Post Doctoral Research Fellowship in Rehabilitation Outcomes Research
(Boston) – Dr. Alan Jette, director of the Health & Disability Research Institute at Boston University, announced a new program offering post doctoral fellowships in rehabilitation outcomes research to be offered at the University. Funded by the National Institute of Disability and Rehabilitation Research in the US Department of Education, the program will help post-doctoral rehabilitation professionals refine the skills they need to conduct high quality, independent, funded research on the outcomes and effectiveness of rehabilitation care as well as provide an interdisciplinary training and mentorship experience for rehabilitation professionals.
The program includes opportunities to enhance knowledge in advanced research design, advanced statistical methods, contemporary outcome measurement methodology, and information on the responsible conduct of research and protection of human subjects. The program’s fellows will develop skills in writing scientific articles for submission to peer-reviewed journals, gain experience in developing and presenting scientific presentations, and refine skills in writing research grant applications.
Fellowships will be for a twelve month duration with the option of applying for a second year. Each fellow will receive an annual stipend, individual health insurance coverage, tuition stipend, and professional travel allowance. Each fellow will be assigned to a primary research mentor selected from among those scientists working in the following collaborating units: The BU Health & Disability Research Institute, Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences, The BU Medical School’s Department of Clinical Epidemiology, and BU School of Public Health, the BU Neuromuscular Research Center, and the Tufts University Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging.
